What a fab year for Eskmills! We’ve had many successes, made lots of changes, and welcomed hundreds of happy customers. We spoke to Wedding Planner extraordinaire Dawn about what the wedding team have been up to in 2015.
What’s 2015 been like at Eskmills?
Lots of fun and lots of hard work! We’ve been so busy, with 2-3 weddings a week on average – it’s tested my organisational skills to the max!
Friday weddings have been way more popular this year, as more and more couples like the idea of having the whole weekend to celebrate. We’ve had more Thursday and Sunday weddings too – lots of couples go for them because of the really good value for money, and because it allows them to be more flexible on dates. In fact we created the special Midweek Wedding Package because more couples were asking for them.
Any particular trends you’ve noticed this year?
In terms of decor, butterflies and birdcages – inspired by the birdcage in the Eskmills garden. We’ve also had a few purple and pink-themed weddings, with a more traditional feel. We’ve also had some weddings with quirky touches: one couple had a caricaturist, another had a saxophone player, another had a games area for the kids behind the fairylight curtain. Our recent winter wedding had the most lovely favours for guests: mini jars of hot chocolate with candy canes, and the tables decorated with silver pine cones.
What on the horizon for 2016?
It’s going to be another busy year – I already have 65 weddings booked in, with 33 for 2017! In terms of trends, blush pink is going to be massive for this year, as are pastels generally, and a few couples are opting for vintage styling.
What do you like best about working as the Eskmills Wedding Planner?
The highlight for me is the relationships I have with the couples, and especially the brides. I’m still friends with many of them, and I love seeing them going on with their lives, and some of them having children.
